You’re not going to be very productive if you try and plough through your tasks feel anxious and overwhelmed.

We’ve all done it right? Looked at all the things we need to get done and then the panic kicks in as you calculate the number of hours / days left until you’ve got to get it done.

Here are 5 things you can do to help yourself through these situations.

breath

BREATHE

Focusing on your breathing may sound like a strange thing to do, but it honestly works wonders. Breathing techniques can trick the body into a state of relaxation which is perfect for those uber-stressful days.

Try breathing in for the count of five and then exhale for the count of eight. Repeat for as long as needed to feel calm.

Another practical tip is to cover your right nostril with your thumb (right hand) and breathe in through your left nostril. Then cover your left nostril with your ring finger (right hand) and breathe out through your right nostril. Breathe in through your right nostril, out through your left and repeat about 9 times.

You can also try a Mudra Meditation, using hand gestures which facilitate the flow of energy in the body and release blocked energy, which could be the cause of your stress. You can find these online or try Sattva meditation and mantras app.

timeout

TIME OUT

Do something different. Take your to-do list and keep it to the side for a moment. Give your brain some space and do something completely unrelated to the things that are keeping you ‘busy’. This is an instant cure for feeling overwhelmed.

It could even been something as mundane as doing the washing, but while you’re loading the machine, don’t think about work, throw yourself into the mundane task and you’ll find the mind settle a little.

planyourhours

PLAN YOUR HOURS

Don’t stab in the dark – plan out your day in advance.

According to a study more than 40 percent of time at work is spent unproductively, but following a routine and putting a few strategies in place to organize your day according to your own birth chart can change that figure dramatically.

On the align27 app you can structure your day according to Productive Moments and your extremely powerful Golden Moments, which will provide structure to your day and allows you to get more done in less time.

The Timeline Graph will show you your peaks and troughs, so you will also know when not to do things.

This simple planning according to your own astrology will help you stay organized and focused throughout the day.

BE GRATEFUL

Seems strange to start thinking about all the things to be grateful for when you’ve got a ton of stuff to do right? Well, when you’re feeling grateful and you are thinking of all the times, things and people for which you should be grateful, a sense of expansion and openness occurs in the body and mind. Gratitude is a powerful human emotion.

When we express gratitude our brain releases dopamine and serotonin, the two crucial neurotransmitters responsible for our emotions and they make us feel ‘good’. They enhance our mood immediately, making us feel happy from the inside.

power

THE POWER OF NOW

Go with the flow. When you ride the tide rather than swim against it, you’re going to increase your productivity ten fold.

How can you do this? On the align27 app home page we indicate what you should be doing at any given moment according to your own birth chart. For example, if at that very time of your feeling extremely overwhelmed the app tells you that it’s a Silence Moment for you, it means that you should take some time out. It’s likely that anything you try and do during this time may not work out or be fruitful.

The feeling of being overwhelmed sits in the future – you are overwhelmed about something that has not yet happened yet. So, by focusing on the ‘now’ you are bringing your mind into the present moment rather than keeping it hooked into the future.
