The Sun is in Jyestha from December 2nd to 15th, the last nakshatra in the zodiacal sign of Scorpio.

A light is turned on wherever the Sun transits, and especially in this darkest and deepest of signs, you find new insight into creativity, leadership and personal charisma. The Sun is also a marker of time and shows a renewal of life, where you journey into the intensity of Scorpio and Jyeshta’s ‘Elder’ energy.  You can learn a lot about statecraft, politics and taking responsibility, and may be dealing with older people, or else you are the most senior figure in the room.

The ruling devata here is Indra, King of the Gods, so the Sun, karaka of Kingship, is at home again in the sense of stepping up to be a chief or spokesperson. This asterism is also associated with Alakshmi, the elder sister of Lakshmi Devi, and signifies privation or lack – so taking steps to promote your cash flow, making a conscious donation or helping someone else make money is good use of the time. Jyeshta’s Shakti is for ‘courage in battle’, so you may be fighting against the odds, but you are an inspirational figure now who leads by example and people want to follow.

This transit sees the Sun with Mercury, planet of intellect, throughout, which gives you extra mental energy and curiosity to pour into your ideas: it would be good to write some of your brainwaves down. The final three days of this passage, December 12th- 15th also finds the Sun in the so-called Gandata zone between signs and nakshatras, where the solar energy is otherworldly and unfocused. Plans may go awry here or at least prove to be impractical, so run your thinking past a trusted friend or advisor before committing.
